Our Ingredients

Our recipes use the highest quality raw ingredients, sourced from Canada where possible. Our facility is located in St Marys, Ontario, Canada in the middle of Ontario’s agriculture belt. We are ideally situated for local ingredient sourcing throughout Canada and the USA.

Each of our ingredients and ingredient suppliers are evaluated through our Nutrace program. We evaluate incoming ingredients for a variety of quality, safety and nutritional aspects.

Explore below the ingredients that are used in our Wholesome Blend and Lifetime diets.

Our Ingredients

  • Parsnips

A root vegetable, similar to carrots, but with higher levels of some essential nutrients such as potassium, vitamin C and folate. They are a good source of dietary fibre.

  • Pea Protein

Made from peas, the protein portion is extracted to create a low ash source of protein that provides essential amino acids such as lysine and threonine.

  • Pea Starch

Made from processed peas, pea starch is used to create a kibble texture that is hard and crunchy, promoting proper physical action against the teeth for cleaning.

  • Peas

Canadian grown peas are naturally non-GMO (genetically modified organism) and require a lower environmental footprint to grow, as they need less fertilizer application and lower maintenance. The carbohydrates provided by peas have an excellent glycemic index value (53), beneficial to promoting healthy blood sugar profiles. Peas are also an excellent source of protein and fibre.

  • Phosphoric Acid

A mineral acid that helps to create an acidified urine pH, which is important for the prevention of feline urinary tract disorders.

  • Pomegranate

A highly nutritious fruit, containing some of the highest levels of antioxidant polyphenols. These compounds protect cells from damaging oxidation reactions that result in disease and aging.

  • Pork (deboned, fresh)

Pork is an excellent source of protein; it provides essential amino acids required for the growth and repair of muscle and can also be used for energy. The meat is delivered to our facility on the day of production to ensure freshness.

  • Pork Meal

Cooked Canadian pork with water and fat content reduced is a concentrated source of protein; it provides essential amino acids required for the growth and repair of muscle and can also be used for energy. Pork meal has balanced calcium and phosphorus levels for bone health, and some omega fatty acids for skin and immune health.

  • Poultry Fat

Poultry fat is a blend of chicken and turkey fat. It is used to coat our foods after cooking as a highly palatable natural flavour that helps achieve the proper fatty acid profile necessary for healthy skin and coat. It is especially good for cats because it contains arachidonic acid, a fatty acid cats cannot produce on their own.

  • Prebiotics

Prebiotics are functional fibres that provide nutrition for the naturally occurring "good" microbes that reside in the gastrointestinal tract and enhance gut-related immune function.  These include fructooligosaccharides (sourced from chicory root) and mannoligosaccharides (sourced from yeast extract). Prebiotics are useful to boost the effectiveness of probiotics.

  • Probiotics

Microorganisms that are naturally occurring in the gastrointestinal tract, which promote proper digestion, supply key nutrients and play an important role in the immune functions found within the gastrointestinal tract. By feeding probiotics, the "good" populations of microbes are replenished, and the "bad" microbes can be reduced.

  • Pumpkin

Fresh, whole pumpkins are a source of dietary fibre and contain antioxidants such as beta-carotene.

  • Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6)

Vitamin B6, pyridoxine acts to support the production of new red and white blood cells, hormones, and other signaling molecules and enzymes that allow for the digestion of food.
